Venice is located on the Southwest Coast of Florida, between Sarasota and Fort Myers. The average annual temperature is 75 degrees, and the water temperature in the Gulf of Mexico will rise to a maximum of 89 degrees in the month of August.

Venice is known for its friendly, small town feel, its quaint down town shopping & dining area, and its beautiful, sandy beaches. A central park along Venice's main street, Venice Avenue, is the site of concerts, arts and crafts shows, and various special events throughout the year.

The beach, starting at the northern edge of the city where the Venice jetties open a passage from the Intracoastal Waterway to the Gulf of Mexico, extends for miles along the shoreline. Prehistoric shark's teeth are found along the beaches and contribute to Venice being renowned as the "Shark's tooth capital of the World."

Fishing and/or Boating enthusiasts can find plenty enjoyment in the Venice area. The jetty, for instance, provides great fishing possibilities and boat access between the Gulf of Mexico and the Inter-coastal Waterway. Dolphins are a common sight and can be best observed from the 700 foot pier, located adjacent to Sharky's Restaurant on Harbor Drive.

Recreational activities such as golfing, tennis, baseball, soccer, etc. are widely available throughout Venice. The area can be accessed best from the Sarasota International Airport (45 min), Tampa International Airport (60 min), or the Southwest Florida International Airport just southwest of Fort Myers (60 min).
